The Beatitudes · Matthew 5
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount · King James Version (public domain)
What it means
Jesus blesses those who suffer for doing right and for His name. The world's rejection is not a sign of God's absence but of belonging to a kingdom the world does not yet recognize. The reward is not later only; the kingdom is already theirs.
Take it in
Read the whole Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5 to 7) on The Living Bread, ask Simon anything you wonder about, and let this blessing reshape what you call a good life. You are welcome exactly as you are.
