What Did Jesus Say About Comfort for the Grieving?
Jesus wept at a graveside and drew near to the mourning. He blesses those who grieve and promises that their sorrow will one day turn to joy.

What Jesus is really saying
Jesus does not rush the grieving or scold their tears; He honors sorrow and enters into it, even weeping Himself. Yet He never leaves mourners without hope. He promises comfort, a coming joy, and a reunion beyond the grave, because He is the resurrection and the life. Grief in His presence is grief with hope.
Who these words reveal Him to be
He wept at a grave and then called the dead man out, revealing the God who both shares our sorrow and holds the keys of death. Jesus does not offer grievers empty words; He offers Himself, the resurrection and the life. He is the Lord who turns mourning into joy and the Savior in whom we grieve with hope. The comfort He gives is the nearness of the God who will wipe every tear away.
Come to Him
If you are grieving, Jesus does not stand at a distance. He draws near, He understands, and He carries a hope stronger than death. Bring Him your sorrow, and let Him be your comfort.
