Bible Verses for a Long Journey
Whether by road, air, or sea, a long journey brings its own worries: safety, delays, the unknown ahead. God has watched over travelers since the beginning. These verses are for a long journey, to commit your travels to Him and go in peace.
What God says over a long journey
“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
The Lord shall preserve your going out and coming in forevermore.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Trust the Lord and He will direct your paths.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Fear not; He is with you and will strengthen and uphold you.
“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.”
I send an angel before you to keep you in the way and bring you in.
“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
He gives His angels charge over you in all your ways.
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
The Lord goes before you and will not fail or forsake you.
“If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”
If I take the wings of the morning, even there His hand leads me.
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Lo, I am with you always, wherever you travel.
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
The Lord is my shepherd; even through the valley He is with me.
“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
The Lord bless you and keep you and give you peace on your way.

A prayer for a long journey
Lord, I commit this journey to You. Watch over me and all who travel with me. Keep us safe, guide our way, and bring us to our destination in peace. Be with those I have left and those I am going to. Thank You for going before me. In Jesus name, amen.
