The Birth of Jesus

The Christmas story: how God kept His promise and came into the world as a child, in a manger in Bethlehem.

Long foretold by the prophets, Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. Angels announced Him to shepherds; wise men came from the east to worship Him. Christians call Him Immanuel, 'God with us', because in Jesus, God came near.

Christmas is the celebration of that coming: that the maker of the world entered it in humility and love, to save us.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
