God’s Promises for New Life

God promises new life to all who come to Christ: a fresh start, a new heart, and old things passing away.

God does not merely improve the old life; He gives a new one. He promises to make us new creations, with the past washed away.

He promises a new heart and His own Spirit within us, the power to live differently. However you have failed, in Christ you can begin again.

What God promises, in His own words

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 · King James Version (public domain)

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”

Ezekiel 36:26 · King James Version (public domain)

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Romans 6:4 · King James Version (public domain)

“It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23 · King James Version (public domain)

How this points to Jesus

Because Jesus rose from the dead, He gives resurrection life to all who trust Him. Every promise of new life is yes in Him. In Christ the old is gone and the new has come; no failure is final, and every morning holds fresh mercy for those who are His.
