What Does the Bible Say About Addiction?
The Bible meets those bound by addiction not with condemnation but with hope: in Christ there is real freedom, one day and one step at a time.
Scripture understands the power of what enslaves us; Paul wrote honestly of doing what he did not want to do. But it also promises that whom the Son sets free is free indeed, and that God's grace is stronger than any chain.
Freedom often comes through God's power working alongside honest community, accountability, and help. The Bible never shames the struggler; it offers a Savior who lifts us out of the pit and walks with us toward healing. Reaching out for help is an act of courage, not failure.

How this points to Jesus
Jesus came to set the captives free. He does not stand at a distance from those who struggle; He steps into the pit and lifts them out. Freedom in Christ is rarely instant and often walked out in community, but His grace is sufficient, and He never lets go of those He is rescuing.
