What Did Jesus Say About Work?
Jesus knew work firsthand as a carpenter, and He spoke of labor with dignity. He calls us to work that lasts, done for God, without anxious striving.
“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

There is holy urgency in the work God gives us.

What Jesus is really saying
Jesus does not divide life into sacred and secular. He treats daily work as a place to serve God, whether the task is grand or ordinary. He warns only against making work an anxious idol, and He invites us to labor from love and rest, not for our worth.
Who these words reveal Him to be
The carpenter from Nazareth speaks of work as one who came to do His Father's work and finish it at the cross. Jesus is God taking up human labor, dignifying every ordinary task, and completing the one work only He could do: our salvation. His finished work means our worth is not earned but given. He is the Lord who worked for us, and now invites us to work from His love.
Come to Him
Your work matters to God, and so do you apart from it. Bring your labor to Jesus, and let Him make it worship, done for the One who first worked all things for you.
