What Did Jesus Say About the World?
Jesus spoke of the world with both love and honesty. God so loved it that He gave His Son, yet Jesus warned that its systems and hostility would not be a home for His followers.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God's love for the world is the reason He came.
“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

What Jesus is really saying
Jesus holds two truths together without flinching. God passionately loves the people of the world, and yet the world's proud systems are set against God. So He calls us to love people the way God does while refusing to build our lives on things that cannot last. His victory means we can live in the world unafraid.
Who these words reveal Him to be
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, and that Son is Jesus, speaking of the love that sent Him. He comes from above, overcomes the world, and offers a peace the world cannot give. Only the Lord of heaven could say, I have overcome the world. He is God's love made visible, the Savior who entered our world to carry us safely through it and beyond it.
Come to Him
You were made for more than the world can hold, and its applause will never fill your soul. Jesus offers what the world cannot: Himself, and a peace that outlasts every trouble. Take heart, He has overcome.
