The words of Jesus
What Did Jesus Say About Hell?
Jesus spoke about hell soberly and honestly, out of love, warning of a real danger so that no one would drift toward it unaware. Here are His own words, offered gently.
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Jesus, in Matthew 10:28, King James Version
The soul matters more than the body, and God alone holds it.
“It is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched.”
Jesus, in Mark 9:43, King James Version
Nothing is worth more than the soul; take sin seriously.
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Jesus, in Matthew 25:46, King James Version
The choices of this life reach into eternity.
“The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend... and shall cast them into a furnace of fire.”
Jesus, in Matthew 13:41-42, King James Version
Evil will not have the last word in God's world.
Come to Him
Jesus warned about hell because He came to rescue us from it. He took the judgment we deserved so the way to life could be thrown open to anyone who turns to Him.
His words were always meant to lead you to Himself. You can begin with Jesus here, ask someone to pray with you, or read His words in the Bible.
