What Did Jesus Say About the Devil?
Jesus spoke of a real enemy, a liar and a thief, but always as one already beneath His feet. He warns us so we are not deceived, and He assures us the enemy is defeated.
“He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

The enemy's native tongue is the lie.

What Jesus is really saying
Jesus takes evil seriously without fearing it. He names the enemy as a liar and a thief so we can recognize the tactics, but He never speaks as if the outcome is in doubt. He saw Satan fall, He came to undo his works, and He prays for the very people the enemy wants to sift.
Who these words reveal Him to be
He speaks of the enemy as one already beneath His feet: I beheld Satan as lightning fall. Only God has such authority over the powers of darkness, and Jesus wields it with a word. He came to destroy the works of the devil and to give abundant life in their place. He is the Lord the darkness cannot overcome and the Savior who guards His own. In Him the enemy is a defeated foe.
Come to Him
You do not have to face the darkness on your own strength. Jesus has already won, and He stands between you and the enemy. Stay close to Him, and no lie or thief can claim you.
