What Did Jesus Say About the Cost of Discipleship?
Jesus never hid the cost of following Him; He asked people to count it honestly. Here is what He said about what it takes.
“And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
Jesus, in Luke 14:27, King James Version
Following Him means dying to self to gain real life.
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”

He wants a considered yes, not an impulse.
“Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”

He asks for first place, above every rival.
“The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

He is honest that the road is not comfort.
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.”

What we surrender to Him, we truly gain.
Come to Him
The cost is real, but so is the treasure. Jesus gave everything for you first, and what you hand to Him you will find you never really lose.
