The Gates of the Bible: From the Door of the Ark to the Gates of Pearl

Scripture keeps us standing at doors. The LORD himself shuts the door of the ark. Blood on the doorposts turns a threshold into the line between death and life. The psalmist cries, lift up your heads, O ye gates, that the King of glory may come in. A lame man is carried daily to the gate called Beautiful, and healed there. Jesus says, plainly, I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved. And at the end John sees a city whose twelve gates are twelve pearls and are never shut, for there is no night there. Each page below follows one gate or door through Scripture, tells honestly where its meaning is stated and where it is drawn out, and shows how the whole thread leads to Jesus, the door of the sheep.
