The Stones of the Bible: From the Rock in the Wilderness to the Chief Cornerstone
Stone runs through Scripture as a strange and steady thread. God writes his law on tablets of stone. A struck rock pours out water in the desert, and Paul says plainly that rock was Christ. A shepherd boy drops a giant with a single smooth stone. A prophet sees a stone cut without hands that shatters every kingdom. The builders reject a stone, and it becomes the head of the corner. And on the third day, a stone is rolled away from a tomb that could not hold him. Each page below follows one stone through the Bible, tells honestly where its meaning is stated by the New Testament itself and where it is drawn out by later readers, and shows how the whole thread leads to Jesus, the Rock of our salvation and the chief cornerstone.
