Lent

What Is Lent?

Lent is the season of about 40 days before Easter, a time of reflection, repentance, and often fasting, as Christians prepare their hearts for the cross and the resurrection.

Lent recalls the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness. Many Christians give something up or take on a practice, not to earn God's favor, but to make more room for Him and to turn their hearts back.

It is not about gloom but about honesty, clearing away distractions so the joy of Easter can land with its full weight.

“And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.”
