There is a way home
I can't feel God
Not feeling God does not mean God is not there. Feelings come and go with sleep, stress, grief, and the state of your body, and they are a poor instrument for measuring an infinite God. His presence does not switch off when your sense of it does.
What is true
Sometimes the inability to feel God is spiritual; often it is physical or emotional, the fog of depression, burnout, or grief, none of which are sins. Scripture never ties God's presence to your emotional state. He is with you as truly on the numb days as on the radiant ones. The mustard seed of faith that keeps you reaching, even flatly, even doubtfully, is faith God recognizes and holds.
What Jesus said, and did
One small step
Your one small step: stop measuring your faith by your feelings. Show up plainly anyway, and if the numbness is heavy and lasting, treat your body and mind kindly, and consider talking to a doctor or counselor.

Honest questions
- Why can't I feel God anymore?
- Often it is not spiritual at all: depression, exhaustion, grief, or stress can flatten all feeling, including the sense of God. His presence does not depend on your ability to feel it.
- Does not feeling God mean he left me?
- No. God's nearness is a fact of his promise, not a function of your mood. Many faithful people walk through long numb seasons still held by him.
- Could this be depression rather than a spiritual problem?
- Very possibly. Numbness, flatness, and loss of joy are common signs of depression, which is not a sin or a lack of faith. It is worth speaking to a doctor or counselor.
There is no rush
You do not have to decide anything today. You can read a little, close the page, and come back tomorrow, or never. Nobody here is keeping score, and you owe no one an answer. When you are ready, and only then, the gentlest place to meet Jesus is in his own words, watching how he treats the tired, the ashamed, and the ones everybody else gave up on.
