There is a way home
How to come back to God
Coming back to God is simpler than shame makes it sound. You do not clean yourself up first and then approach; you turn toward him as you are, and the cleaning happens in his company. The whole movement can begin with one honest sentence today.
What is true
The son in Jesus' story rehearsed a whole speech about being unworthy, and his father barely let him finish before calling for a robe and a feast. Coming back is not earning your way in. It is turning around. In one word, repentance simply means to turn, to change direction, to come home. You do it not by becoming good enough but by coming, honestly, to the One who is already glad to see you.
What Jesus said, and did
One small step
Your one small step: just turn. Tell God, in your own plain words, that you want to come home. That turning is the whole beginning. Everything else grows from there, with him, not before him.

Honest questions
- What do I have to do to come back to God?
- Turn toward him honestly. Tell him you want to return, trust that Jesus makes the way open, and start walking with him. You do not have to earn your way back; you receive a welcome.
- Do I have to confess everything first?
- You can be honest with God about your life, and that is healthy, but the welcome comes first, not after you have performed enough. The father embraced the son before the confession was finished.
- What if I keep failing after I come back?
- You come back again, as many times as it takes. God's mercy is not a one-time offer with a limit. Growth is gradual, and his patience does not run out.
There is no rush
You do not have to decide anything today. You can read a little, close the page, and come back tomorrow, or never. Nobody here is keeping score, and you owe no one an answer. When you are ready, and only then, the gentlest place to meet Jesus is in his own words, watching how he treats the tired, the ashamed, and the ones everybody else gave up on.
