A word and a prayer for this church

The church is not the building; it is Christ’s people, gathered. Over The Journey, and over everyone who seeks God in Newark, the Scriptures speak:

“So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”

Romans 12:5 (KJV)

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

A prayer: Lord Jesus, be near to the people who gather as The Journey. Teach them Your Word, knit them together in love, and make them a light in Newark. Where two or three come together in Your name, You are there. Amen.

Is Jesus alive in this place?

Not our verdict. The witness of the family who have worshiped here.

No one has borne witness yet. If you have worshiped here, be the first to testify whether you found Jesus present and alive in this place. Add your witness.

This is the personal witness of the people who have worshiped here, not Living Bread’s judgment and not a measure of God’s presence. “Test everything; hold fast what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” (Matthew 7:16) Read, visit, and discern with the Spirit’s help.

You do not have to have it together first.

The most misunderstood thing about Christianity is that you must become good before God will have you. It is the exact opposite. In the story Jesus told, the wasteful son came home rehearsing his apology, and the father ran to him and threw his arms around him before he could finish. God is not waiting at the end of a long road of self-improvement. He is running toward you now, as you are, in the mess. You come as you are; He does the changing. That is not permission to stay the same. It is the only thing that has ever actually changed anyone: being loved first.

“When he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.”Luke 15:20

How to come to ChristMeet JesusLearn to pray

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28

If you are tired, you do not have to arrive impressive. Come as you are. That is the whole invitation.
