Psalm 91:1-2

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

What it means

A psalm of shelter. To dwell in God's presence is to live under His protection, a refuge and fortress for the soul, whatever storms rage outside.

Questions people ask

Where do I find Psalm 91:1-2?

It is in Psalm, in Psalm 91. Reading the whole chapter shows who is speaking, to whom, and why.

How can I pray Psalm 91:1-2?

Read it slowly once, then say it back to God in your own words, one phrase at a time. Stop on the phrase that stays with you and stay there. You can also ask the family of God on The Living Bread to pray it with you.

Pray this

Jesus, our Shepherd, nothing about Psalm 91:1-2 is hidden from you. We bring you Psalm 91:1-2, fear. Let your Body in that place love one another and be one. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Live this

Take one step this week.

  1. Read all of Psalm 91 today, not only the one verse.
  2. Write Psalm 91:1-2 where you will see it, and read it aloud at the start and end of the day.
  3. Tell one person what this verse means to you, and ask what verse has carried them.
