You finished something hard, and now a wide-open, slightly terrifying future is in front of you. These verses are for the graduate who is excited and unsure at the same time, and who needs to know Who holds the road ahead.
What God says over graduates
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
God knows the thoughts He has toward you: peace, a future, and a hope.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Trust the Lord to direct your path more than your own plans.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Be strong and courageous; God is with you wherever this next step leads.
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
He who began a good work in you will complete it.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Fear not; He strengthens and upholds you as you begin again.
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
God promises to instruct and guide you in the way you should go.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Seek first His kingdom, and what you need will be added.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
To everything there is a season; you are entering a new one.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Do not be anxious about the unknown; pray, and receive His peace.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
God works all things together for good to those who love Him.
Where this all leads
A diploma marks the end of one road and the start of another, but Jesus is on both. He is the Way, so your future is not a blank map; it is a path with a Guide. Whatever you become, belonging to Him is the achievement that will still matter in a hundred years.
