You carry risk, vision, and sleepless nights that most people never see. Success and failure both feel personal. These verses are for the entrepreneur who needs to build on something steadier than the market and hold their work with open hands.
What God says over entrepreneurs
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Work heartily as unto the Lord, whoever the customer is.
“Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”
Say 'if the Lord wills'; hold your plans humbly before Him.
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
Seek first His kingdom; do not let the business become your god.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Bring the anxiety of the venture to God and receive His peace.
“There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.”
The ability to enjoy your labor is itself a gift from God's hand.
Where this all leads
Every empire built by hand eventually passes to someone else. Jesus is building a kingdom that will never end, and He invites you to invest your one life in it. Let your work be excellent and let it be surrendered; hold the business with open hands, because you belong to Him and He will never fail.
Lord, I commit this work to You. Give me wisdom, integrity, and courage. Provide what I cannot, and keep me from making an idol of success. Let what I build serve others and honor You. Whether it grows or not, keep my heart Yours. In Jesus name, amen.
You were never meant to walk this alone
The family here will pray with you, and you can hear how Christ has met others in the same place.
Proverbs 16:3, 'Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.' and Proverbs 16:9 about God directing our steps, are treasured by entrepreneurs.
What does the Bible say about ambition and work?
It honors diligent, God-honoring work (Colossians 3:23) while warning against greed and self-reliance (James 4:13-15). Ambition is good when it is surrendered to God and serves others.
