Bible Verses for Firefighters
When the alarm sounds you go, into smoke, into danger, into the worst day of someone's life. You carry heavy gear and heavier memories. These verses are for the firefighter who needs courage on the way in and peace on the way home.
What God says over firefighters
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; He is with you.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
Dwelling in the shelter of the Most High, you rest under His shadow.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Be strong and of a good courage; the Lord is with you wherever you go.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Fear not; He strengthens you and upholds you with His right hand.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
A spirit of power, love, and a sound mind, for the moment of decision.
“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
The Lord is your rock and fortress, your deliverer in danger.
“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
The rescue you give the least of these, Jesus receives as done to Him.
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
The peace that passes understanding guards your heart after the call.
Where this all leads
Isaiah promised that when God's people pass through fire, they will not be consumed, for He is with them. Jesus walked into the fire of death itself and came out alive, so that you would not have to face the worst alone. The One who rescues souls stands with the one who rescues bodies.

A prayer for firefighters
Lord, when the call comes, give me courage and a clear mind. Protect me and my crew as we go in. Guard my heart from the weight of what I carry out. Thank You for the chance to save a life. Bring me home, and hold the ones I could not save. In Jesus name, amen.
You were never meant to walk this alone
The family here will pray with you, and you can hear how Christ has met others in the same place.

- What is a good Bible verse for a firefighter?
- Isaiah 43:2, 'when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned,' and John 15:13 about laying down one's life, are both fitting for firefighters.
- Does the Bible speak about courage in danger?
- Yes, often. Joshua 1:9 and Psalm 46:1 promise God's presence and help in trouble, and 2 Timothy 1:7 says God gives a spirit of power rather than fear.
