Bible Verses for a Storm
A storm is coming or already raging: wind, water, and the fear that follows. Whether it is a literal storm outside or one crashing through your life, God is not asleep in it. These verses are for a storm, to steady your heart in the God who commands the wind and the waves.
What God says over a storm
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and the storm.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High rests under His shadow.
“And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”
Why are you fearful? Then He rebuked the winds and the sea.
“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.”
In the shadow of Your wings I take refuge until the storm passes.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Fear not; He strengthens and upholds you through the wind.
“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He keeps your life.
Where this all leads
Jesus once slept through a storm, and then stood up and told the wind and waves to be still, and they obeyed. The same Lord is with you in this one. He may calm the storm, or He may calm you within it, but either way He is in the boat and He is in control. Take shelter under His wings until it passes.

A prayer for a storm
Lord, the storm is frightening and I feel small before it. Be my refuge and my shelter. Protect me, my loved ones, and my home. Calm the storm, or calm my heart within it. Thank You that even the wind and waves obey You. I take shelter in You. In Jesus name, amen.
