A court date can hang over you with dread: the stakes, the waiting, the fear of what the ruling will bring. Whatever brings you before the court, God is the highest Judge, and He is merciful. These verses are for a court date, to steady your nerves and put your trust in Him.
What God says over a court date
“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”
Commit your way to the Lord; He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
The heart of the ruler is in the Lord's hand; He turns it as He wills.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Be anxious for nothing; His peace will guard your heart and mind.
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear?
Where this all leads
However the earthly court rules, there is a higher Judge who is perfectly just and rich in mercy. Jesus stood before an unjust court in your place and took the verdict you deserved, so that mercy could be yours. Commit your case to God, do what is right, and trust the One who holds every heart, including the judge's, in His hand.
Lord, I bring this court date to You. Calm my fear and give me peace. Let justice and mercy be done. Go before me into that room and be my defender. Whatever the outcome, remind me that You are with me and for me. I trust my case to You. In Jesus name, amen.
