Can God Forgive Me?
If you are asking this, some part of you is afraid the answer might be no, that you have finally done the thing that used up God's patience. Please hear the answer clearly before anything else: yes. Fully, freely, and not reluctantly. The whole message of the Bible is that God's mercy runs deeper than your worst, and that He is far more eager to forgive than you are to ask. You are not the exception that finally overwhelms His grace. The fact that you want to be forgiven is itself a sign that He is already drawing you, because a heart that no longer cared would not be asking the question at all.

What forgiveness really is (and isn't)
Forgiveness is not something you earn back by suffering enough or performing well enough; it is something you receive by turning honestly to God. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? None of us could. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. That is the ground you stand on: not your record, but His mercy. And it is not partial. Where forgiveness actually comes from
Here is why the answer is yes, and it has nothing to do with how good you are: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He did not wait for you to clean up. He paid the price at your worst, while you were still turned away, so that the door would be open the moment you turned back. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. Faithful and just, not reluctant, not stingy, not keeping a tally that finally maxes out. The cross is the measure of how far His forgiveness reaches, and it reaches all the way to you, right now, exactly as you are.

What if my sin is really bad?
Then you need grace that is bigger than really bad, and that is exactly what God offers. Scripture promises that sins as scarlet can be made white as snow. The people God forgave in the Bible include some who did terrible things. Your sin is not larger than the cross, and believing it is actually overestimates your sin and underestimates His mercy.
Do I have to fix everything first before God will forgive me?
No. That reverses the order. You come to God as you are, in the middle of the mess, and His forgiveness is where healing and change begin, not the reward at the end. He receives you first; the mending of your life follows from being received, not before it. Come now, not once you are cleaned up.
What if I keep committing the same sin?
God's forgiveness is not rationed by how many times you fail. Jesus told us to forgive seventy times seven, and He is not less merciful than He asks us to be. Each honest return to Him is welcomed. Keep coming back, and let Him work on freedom over time. Repetition of the sin does not exhaust His willingness to forgive it.
