Is Karma Real?
Karma names something true: actions have consequences, and what we sow we tend to reap. The Bible agrees that a man reaps what he sows. But karma as a cosmic ledger that perfectly balances every debt across lifetimes is not how God runs the world, and thank God, because none of us could pay that debt. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Karma is a scale. Grace is a rescue.

Let's take the appeal seriously
Karma is attractive because it insists the universe is just, that cruelty will not simply win, that goodness matters. That craving for justice is right and God-given; we are made to want the scales to balance. Karma also gives a sense of control: be good, get good. And it takes evil seriously, which many modern philosophies do not. So the instinct behind karma is not to be mocked. It is a hunger for a moral universe, and that hunger points somewhere true.
What is really being offered
But if karma were the whole truth, we would all be crushed by it, because none of us live up to even our own standard, let alone God's. A perfect ledger is not good news for imperfect people; it is a sentence. And karma has no room for mercy, no way for a debt to be forgiven rather than merely paid. The gospel agrees that the debt is real, then does the unthinkable: it says Someone else paid it, so that guilty people could go free.
Where the longing points
Jesus is the end of karma and the beginning of grace. On the cross he took the reaping our sowing deserved, so that we could receive a life we never earned. By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Karma leaves you alone with your record. Christ offers to tear the record up and give you his own. That is not the universe balancing the books. It is a Father running to embrace a child who came home with empty hands.

Doesn't the Bible teach you reap what you sow?
Yes, our choices have real consequences, and Scripture says so plainly. But it does not teach a closed karmic system with no forgiveness. Into that world of sowing and reaping, God brings grace: a way for the guilty to be forgiven rather than only repaid.
If there is grace, does it matter how I live?
It matters deeply, but for a different reason. Grace is not permission to do harm; it is the power to become good out of gratitude rather than fear. Forgiven people are freed to love, not licensed to sin.
