I Feel Too Far Gone
There is a particular despair in believing you have finally gone too far, that whatever line existed, you crossed it, and now grace is for other people but not for you. If that is where you are, please hear this gently and clearly: the feeling of being too far gone is one of the most common lies people believe, and it is a lie. There is no sin so large that it outsizes the cross, no history so dark that it exhausts God's mercy, no distance so great that Jesus cannot reach across it. The very fact that you fear you are too far gone is itself a sign of life, a heart still reaching, and God does not turn away a reaching heart.

Let us name what is keeping you away
Let us name what feeds this fear, because it is worth exposing. Sometimes it is a specific sin you cannot forgive yourself for. Sometimes it is the sheer accumulation, years of failures piled up. Sometimes it is a religious voice, inside or outside you, insisting God has a limit and you have hit it. But the message of the entire Bible cuts against that: God's mercy is not a finite resource that runs dry, and His love was never based on your worthiness in the first place. If it had been, none of us could come. The people God saved in Scripture were not the impressive ones; they were murderers, betrayers, and prostitutes He refused to write off.
How to actually come back
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Not the nearly-lost, or the slightly-strayed, the lost, the ones everyone else gave up on. That is who Jesus came for, which means the worse you think you are, the more precisely you fit His mission. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. All means all. And listen to the invitation in Isaiah: let the wicked forsake his way, and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Abundantly. Not barely. Abundantly.
The Father who runs to meet you
God commendeth his love toward us, Scripture says, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He did not wait for you to become worth saving; He proved His love while you were at your worst. The cross is the measure of how far God will go to reach the too-far-gone, and it reaches further than your worst day. Jesus ate with the people religion called hopeless, touched the untouchable, and forgave from the cross itself. You are not the exception who finally exceeded His grace. You are exactly the person He came for. Come as you are; the One who saves the lost is reaching for you now.

Is there any sin God will not forgive?
The only sin the Bible describes as unforgivable is the persistent, final rejection of God's Spirit and His offer of grace, and the very fact that you long for forgiveness shows you are not in that place. Every specific sin you can name, no matter how grievous, is covered by the cross for those who turn to Christ. Scripture says He forgives all our iniquities and pardons abundantly. You are not beyond His reach.
Why do I feel too far gone if God's grace is real?
Because shame is a powerful and deceptive voice, and it often speaks in religious tones, insisting God has a limit you have exceeded. But feelings are not facts. God's mercy is not a finite supply that runs out, and His love was never based on your worthiness. How can I believe I am forgivable when I cannot forgive myself?
Your inability to forgive yourself does not limit God's ability to forgive you; His verdict, not yours, is the one that stands. Receiving His forgiveness often comes before feeling it, and the feeling follows as you rest in what He has declared true. Bring the specific things you cannot forgive to Him honestly, receive His pardon by faith, and let His word about you outweigh your own harsh sentence.
