What is the gospel?

In short

The gospel, which means good news, is this: God made us and loves us, our sin separated us from Him, Jesus died and rose to rescue us, and everyone who turns to Him in faith is forgiven and given new, eternal life, as a free gift.

In four movements: God, who made you and loves you. Sin, which broke our relationship with Him. Jesus, who died and rose to mend it. Response, turning from sin and trusting Him. That is the news the whole Bible builds toward.

It is not advice about what to do; it is news about what has been done. And it is for you.

What Scripture says

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”

1 Corinthians 15:3 (KJV)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)
