You are seen, and you are not alone
Am I Unlovable?
Am I unlovable is one of the loneliest questions a heart can ask, and if you are asking it, something or someone has taught you to fear that the answer is yes. Maybe you were left, or rejected, or never chosen, and the ache hardened into a verdict about yourself. Please hear a different verdict, spoken by God long before you could earn or ruin His opinion: I have loved thee with an everlasting love. Everlasting means it has no beginning that you could have caused and no end that you could trigger. You are not unlovable. You have been loved the whole time.
“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”Jeremiah 31:3
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”1 John 4:10
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”Romans 8:38
You are not the only one who feels this
Let us name honestly where this fear comes from, because it usually is not random. Often someone we needed to be loved by failed to love us well, and a child concludes the problem must be me. That conclusion feels like fact, but it is a wound speaking, not the truth. And the fear becomes self-fulfilling: convinced we are unlovable, we hide the very self that longs to be loved, so no one gets close enough to love it. Bringing this into the light, to God and to a safe person, is how the lie starts to lose its grip. You are not too much, and you are not too far gone to be loved.
What's really going on underneath
Here is the truth that undoes the fear at the root: real love, the kind that heals, is not a response to how lovable we manage to be. If it were, it would always be fragile. God's love does not work that way. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. That is love aimed at us at our least deserving, before any cleanup, with no performance to earn it. Which means the question am I lovable enough was always the wrong question. You do not have to become lovable to be loved. You already are loved, and being loved is what makes people flourish.
The God who sees you
Herein is love, Scripture says, not that we loved God, but that he loved us. The initiative was always His. Jesus did not wait at the far side of your worthiness; He came into the mess, ate with the outcasts, touched the untouchable, and went to a cross for people who could offer Him nothing back. Neither death, nor life, nor things present, nor things to come, Paul wrote, shall be able to separate us from the love of God. Nothing you have done and nothing done to you can put you outside that love. You are not unlovable. You are, in fact, deeply and permanently loved.

Questions people ask
What if I feel unlovable because of things I have done?
God's love is not cancelled by your worst. The Bible says God showed His love in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). His love reached you at your least deserving, on purpose. Forgiveness is offered as a gift, not earned by becoming good enough first. What you have done does not make you unlovable to Him.
I feel unlovable because someone rejected me. Is that the truth about me?
No. Being rejected by a person, even someone who should have loved you, is a wound, not a verdict on your worth. People fail to love for reasons that are about them, not only about you. God's everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) is the truer measure of who you are, and He will never reject you when you come to Him.
