Does God See Me?
Does God see me is not an abstract theology question; it is usually a person in pain quietly asking whether they are alone in it. The Bible's answer is startlingly personal, and it was first spoken in a desert to a woman at the bottom of her life. Hagar was mistreated, pregnant, and running away with nowhere to go, and God met her there and spoke to her by name. She answered by calling Him Thou God seest me, El Roi, the God who sees. If God saw a used-up runaway that no one else was looking for, He sees you, in whatever wilderness you are in tonight.

You are not the only one who feels this
It is worth being honest that God's seeing is not the distant, uncomfortable surveillance we sometimes fear, a critic tallying our failures. That is not the God of the Bible. When Scripture says God sees you, it means He knows you fully and moves toward you in love, not away in disgust. He saw Hagar and helped her. He is not watching you to catch you out; He is watching you the way a good father watches a child he loves, attentive, near, for you. If shame has made God's seeing feel like a threat, the cross is the proof it is not: He saw the worst and still came to save.
What's really going on underneath
There is a difference between believing God sees everyone in general and knowing He sees you in particular, and the second one is what actually heals loneliness. Psalm 139 is a person working this out in real time: thou hast searched me, and known me; thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising. Not humanity in the abstract. Me. My sitting down and getting up, my ordinary invisible days. When that lands, the 2am aloneness loosens its grip, because being unseen was the real terror, and it turns out you never were. You have been fully seen the whole time by the only eyes whose verdict finally matters.
The God who sees you
Jesus is God's seeing made flesh. Before Nathanael had said a word, Jesus told him what he had been doing alone under a tree, and Nathanael was undone, because to be that known and still wanted is the thing we ache for. Jesus saw the woman everyone judged, the man up the tree, the blind beggar the crowd hushed, and He stopped for each one. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God, the Psalm says; the God who sees you is thinking of you more than the sand on every shore. He sees you, He knows you, and He is not turning away.
