The words of Jesus

What Did Jesus Say About Who He Is?

Jesus made astonishing claims about His own identity, claims no mere teacher would dare. Here, in His own words, is who He said He is.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Jesus, in John 14:6, King James Version

He is the one way to God, not merely a guide to it.

“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Jesus, in John 8:12, King James Version

He gives light to walk by.

“I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger.”

Jesus, in John 6:35, King James Version

He satisfies the soul's deepest hunger.

“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

Jesus, in John 10:11, King James Version

He lays down His life to save His own.

“Before Abraham was, I am.”

Jesus, in John 8:58, King James Version

He takes the very name of God for Himself.

“I and my Father are one.”

Jesus, in John 10:30, King James Version

He claims to be one with God the Father.

Come to Him

Jesus leaves us no middle ground: He claimed to be God with us, the way to the Father, the life of the world. The invitation is to trust who He said He is.

His words were always meant to lead you to Himself. You can begin with Jesus here, ask someone to pray with you, or read His words in the Bible.
