Your pain is real
I love Jesus but not the church
Loving Jesus while wanting nothing to do with church is not a contradiction, and it does not make you a lesser believer. For many wounded people it is simply the honest truth of where they are. You are not the only one, and you are not doing faith wrong.
What is true
The New Testament does hold out a picture of believers gathering and carrying one another. But that vision was never meant as a weapon to shame the wounded back into an unsafe room. Jesus meets individuals, personally, constantly. If community will ever be part of your healing again, it will be safe community, and it will come in time, not by force. For now, your faith is real even if your attendance is zero.
What Jesus said, and did
One small step
Your one small step: keep the thread of faith you still have, however thin. A whispered prayer, one psalm, one honest sentence to God. That thread is enough to hold while you heal.

Honest questions
- Is it a sin to skip church after being hurt?
- Stepping back to heal from harm is not a sin. God is far more concerned with your heart and your safety than with your attendance record.
- Will I ever be able to go back?
- Maybe, in time, and maybe to a different and safer community than the one that hurt you. There is no timeline you must meet, and no shame in taking as long as you need.
- Can I follow Jesus alone for now?
- You are never truly alone with Jesus, and yes, you can walk closely with him without an institution while you heal. Many have. Gentle, safe fellowship can wait until you are ready.
There is no rush
You do not have to decide anything today. You can read a little, close the page, and come back tomorrow, or never. Nobody here is keeping score, and you owe no one an answer. When you are ready, and only then, the gentlest place to meet Jesus is in his own words, watching how he treats the tired, the ashamed, and the ones everybody else gave up on.
