An encounter with Jesus

The Woman Who Touched His Hem

A woman sick and unclean for twelve years

Read the chapter: Mark 5

“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,”

What they wanted

She had bled for twelve years, spent all she had on physicians, and only grown worse. Her condition made her ritually unclean, cut off from touch and community. She thinks, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole, and reaches through the crowd for the hem of His garment.

What Jesus did

She is healed the instant she touches Him. Jesus feels power go out of Him and asks, Who touched my clothes? Trembling, she confesses. He does not rebuke her for reaching; He says, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

What changed

Twelve years of illness and isolation end, and the woman who was untouchable is called Daughter by the Son of God, and sent away in peace. Her desperate reach was faith, and Jesus honored it publicly.

For you if you have been suffering a long time and have run out of options. If you have suffered a long time and tried everything, this woman is for you. No touch is too small when it reaches for Jesus, and He calls the outcast Daughter.
Jesus, I have suffered a long time and run out of options. I reach for You. Make me whole, and let me hear You call me Yours. Amen.

He still meets people like this

Every one of these people met Jesus as they were, not as they should have been. He has not changed. You can meet Him now.
