An encounter with Jesus

The Man Lowered Through the Roof

A paralyzed man carried to Jesus by four friends

Read the chapter: Mark 2

“And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.”

What they wanted

A paralyzed man cannot come to Jesus himself, so four friends carry him. The house is so crowded they cannot get in, so they climb up, break open the roof, and lower him down in front of Jesus. They want their friend healed, and they will not be stopped.

What Jesus did

Jesus, seeing their faith, first says something no one expected: Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. Then, to prove He has authority to forgive, He tells the man to rise, take up his bed, and walk. The man does, and everyone is amazed.

What changed

A man who could not move walks home carrying the mat he was lowered on. And it began with friends who refused to let a crowd, or a roof, keep him from Jesus.

For you if you cannot get to God on your own strength, and you need to be carried. If you cannot get to God on your own, this man is for you. Sometimes faith is being carried by others, and Jesus honors it. Let someone bring you, or be the one who carries a friend.
Jesus, I cannot get to You on my own. Thank You for the people who carry me. Forgive me, and lift me up. Amen.

He still meets people like this

Every one of these people met Jesus as they were, not as they should have been. He has not changed. You can meet Him now.
