The Gospel of John in 21 Days
21 days, one chapter a day
The Gospel of John is the warmest and most profound account of the life of Jesus, and at 21 chapters it reads beautifully at one chapter a day for three weeks. This plan carries you through it slowly, so you can savor the signs, the I am sayings, the cross, and the resurrection, and meet the Jesus John wants you to believe in.
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”John 20:31 (KJV)

A reading plan is a servant, not a master. If you miss days there is no guilt here and no scorecard in heaven. Simply begin again where you left off. The goal was never to finish a list but to meet the One these words are about, Jesus, who is glad to be found by you today.
Where this plan is leading
John states his whole purpose plainly: these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life through His name. This is not a neutral biography; it is an invitation. Read these twenty-one days looking for Jesus, and let Him become not just someone you know about, but someone you know.

Why read the Gospel of John?
John is often the best Gospel for both new readers and lifelong believers. It is warm, deep, and unmistakably clear about who Jesus is, and it plainly states its purpose: that you might believe in Him and have life (John 20:31). Its stories and I am sayings reveal the heart of Jesus in a uniquely intimate way.
How long does it take to read the Gospel of John?
At one chapter a day, John's 21 chapters take three weeks, about ten minutes of reading a day. You could also read it faster in a few longer sittings, but a chapter a day lets you savor and reflect on each scene.
Is John a good Gospel for new believers?
Yes. Many people are pointed to John first because of its clarity about who Jesus is and its direct invitation to believe. Its famous verses, like John 3:16 and John 14:6, and its tender portraits of Jesus make it an excellent place to begin or deepen a walk with Him.
