Maybe you did not come here for a debate about suffering in general. You came because it is happening to you, and you need to know where God is in it. Why me. What did I do to deserve this. Does He even care. Has He left. These are not the questions of a person who has given up on God; they are often the questions of a person still reaching for Him from inside the pain. The Bible does not scold that reaching. It hands you Job, who lost everything and argued with heaven, the Psalms, a third of which are cries of lament, and a Savior in a garden sweating blood and asking if the cup could pass. Scripture never explains your pain away, and neither will these pages. What it does is stranger and better: it shows you a God who did not watch suffering from a safe distance but walked into it Himself, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. Each page below meets one honest cry, names the wound without flinching, and points to the One who is nearest of all to the brokenhearted.
