When you are here, He is here
When You Are Lost
You are not sure how you got here, or where here even is. Maybe the map you were following ran out. Maybe you made choices that led somewhere you never meant to go, and now you cannot see the way back. Maybe you just feel adrift, disconnected, unsure of who you are or what your life is for anymore. Being lost is disorienting and quietly frightening, and it can make you feel like no one is looking for you. I want you to know that someone is. This page is here to bring you to Jesus, who described His whole mission as seeking and saving the lost, who leaves the safe crowd to go after the one who wandered off. You are not beyond finding. You never were. Read on, and let yourself be found.
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”Luke 19:10
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”John 14:6
“I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.”Ezekiel 34:16
Named honestly
Being lost is not the same as being forgotten, though it often feels that way. You can be lost after a wrong turn you knew you were taking, or lost through no fault of your own, carried off course by grief, or change, or the slow drift of years. Some people are lost in a crowd, surrounded and still unseen. However you came to be here, the feeling is real, and pretending you have it all figured out would only leave you more alone. There is no shame in admitting you do not know the way. In fact, knowing you are lost is the first honest step toward being found. The person who insists they are fine keeps wandering. The one who admits they are lost can finally be sought and reached.
What God speaks over you
God speaks over the lost as a shepherd speaks over a missing sheep. In Luke chapter nineteen, Jesus says plainly that the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost, that finding you was the very purpose He came for. In Ezekiel chapter thirty-four, God describes Himself as the shepherd who searches for the scattered, who seeks the lost, brings back the strayed, and binds up the injured. And in John chapter fourteen, Jesus offers Himself as the way, meaning you do not have to find a path in the dark on your own, because He is the path, and He comes to walk it with you. You are not a lost cause. You are the very one He set out to find, and He does not give up the search.
How Jesus meets you here
Jesus told a story about a shepherd who had a hundred sheep and lost one, and who left the ninety-nine to go after that single missing one until he found it, then carried it home on his shoulders, rejoicing. That is not a story about sheep. It is about you. He does not stand at the edge of the wilderness calling and waiting for you to find your own way out. He comes in after you. And when He finds you, there is no scolding, only relief and joy and a shoulder to be carried on. He is Himself the way home, so being found and following Him are the same motion. You do not have to locate yourself first. You only have to stop running and let the Shepherd who is already searching reach you. He will. He is close.

Questions people ask
What if I am lost because of my own bad choices?
Then you are exactly the kind of person Jesus said He came for. The sheep in His story wandered off, and the shepherd went after it anyway, with no lecture waiting at the end. God's search for you does not depend on how you got lost. His seeking is bigger than your straying. When you are found, you will meet relief and joy from Him, not condemnation. Your choices did not disqualify you from being sought.
How do I even start finding my way back?
You do not have to find the whole way at once. Jesus does not just point to a path, He says He is the way, so the first step is simply turning toward Him and asking Him to lead. Tell Him honestly that you are lost. Read on, pray even a few clumsy words, and let someone at The Living Bread walk with you. You take one step toward Him, and you will find He has already run toward you.
