What Did Jesus Say About the Church?
Jesus promised to build His church, a people gathered around Him that death itself cannot defeat. He is present wherever even two or three gather in His name.
“upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

He builds His people, and nothing can destroy them.

What Jesus is really saying
The church, in Jesus' words, is not a building or an institution but a people He Himself builds and keeps. He promises to be present among them and to protect them so that not even death can prevail. To belong to Christ is to belong to a family gathered around Him.
Who these words reveal Him to be
Upon this rock I will build my church, He says, claiming a people as His own and promising that death cannot destroy them. Only the Lord could build and keep such a body, and only God could promise to be present wherever two or three gather in His name. Jesus is the Head of the church and the Shepherd of the one flock, the Savior who gathers a family that will outlast the world.
Come to Him
You were not meant to follow Jesus alone. He is building a family, and there is room for you. Come to Him, and find His people, a place to be known, to belong, and to grow.
