Campus & students · Founded 1981 · by Bill and Bonnie Dripps · State College, Pennsylvania, USA

DiscipleMakers is a Christian campus ministry founded in 1981 by Bill and Bonnie Dripps and based in State College, Pennsylvania. It began as a part time outreach to students at Penn State University and grew into a fellowship on campuses across Pennsylvania. Its goal is to raise up the next generation of leaders for the church by training college students in Bible study, gospel driven discipleship, and evangelism.

What they do

DiscipleMakers sends campus missionaries onto college campuses, where they lead Bible studies, meet students for one to one discipleship, and teach them to read and apply the Scriptures for themselves.

The ministry emphasizes gospel driven change of heart rather than mere behavior, helping students see their need for Jesus and grow in daily dependence on Him.

Through weekly fellowships, conferences, and leadership training, DiscipleMakers prepares students to serve the local church and to make disciples wherever they go after graduation.

The Scripture behind the work

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
“Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:”

Where the door leads

DiscipleMakers points students to Jesus Christ as the only Savior and the center of the whole Bible, calling them to repent, believe, and follow Him. Its staff walk with students personally in the Scriptures. A natural next step is to join a campus Bible study or ask a staff worker to read a Gospel with you.
