Christian Union

Campus & students · Founded 2002 · by Matt Bennett · New York, New York, USA

Christian Union is an evangelical ministry founded in 2002 by Matt Bennett that seeks to develop Christian leaders at the nation's most influential universities. It launched its first program at Princeton University and has established ministries at the Ivy League schools and other elite campuses. Through Bible study, leadership development, and seeking God together, it aims to raise up men and women who will influence culture for Jesus Christ.

What they do

Christian Union places ministry teams at highly selective universities, where they lead Bible courses, leadership lecture series, and small groups that call students to a deep, seeking relationship with God.

The ministry emphasizes prayer, fasting, and knowing the Scriptures, and it hosts conferences and retreats that challenge students toward wholehearted devotion to Jesus.

Believing that many national leaders are shaped on these campuses, Christian Union aims to prepare Christian students to carry their faith into government, business, law, medicine, and the wider culture.

The Scripture behind the work

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Where the door leads

Christian Union calls students to seek God wholeheartedly and to follow Jesus Christ as Lord over every part of life and future influence. It disciples them through Scripture, prayer, and community. A natural next step is to join a Bible course or seeking God gathering on campus, or to talk with a ministry fellow about beginning a relationship with Jesus.
