Bible Study Fellowship, known as BSF, is an interdenominational Bible study organization founded in 1959 by missionary A. Wetherell Johnson. Its mission is to engage people in the study of God's word and to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Through structured lessons, small group discussion, and teaching, BSF helps people of many backgrounds study the Bible in depth over multi-year courses.

What they do

Bible Study Fellowship offers in-depth, multi-year studies through books of the Bible, combining daily personal questions, small group discussion, and a teaching lecture. Members work through the same passage each week, growing together in understanding.

The ministry organizes classes for men, women, young adults, and children, meeting in person and online across many countries. It provides printed lesson notes and study materials to guide each week's work.

Led largely by trained volunteers, BSF gathers people from many denominations to study Scripture side by side, encouraging careful reading and personal application of God's word.

The Scripture behind the work

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
“But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;”

Where the door leads

Bible Study Fellowship draws people to Jesus Christ through the patient, prayerful study of Scripture, where his character and grace come into view. Its studies aim not only at knowledge but at following Christ. A good next step is to join a class or explore the studies at bsfinternational.org and begin reading the word with others.
