In one breath: Christians believe Jesus is God come near in a human life. He taught that God loves us and that we should love God and one another, even our enemies. He was crucified, laying down his life out of love, and his followers say he rose from the dead. He invites everyone, with no conditions at the door, to come to him. That is the whole thing, in short.

The shortest version

Who he is. Christians believe Jesus of Nazareth is God come near, living a real human life out of love.

The cross. He was crucified, and Christians believe he gave his life willingly to carry human wrong and open the way home to God.

The resurrection. His followers say he rose from the dead three days later, and that death does not have the last word.

The invitation. He simply says, come.
