Honest doubt is not a sin. Scripture treats sincere questioning very differently from hardened, willful rejection. The people who wrestled with God in the Bible were not condemned for it; often they were commended. You can bring your doubts to God without adding guilt to the confusion.

Every time a question rises, so does a wave of guilt, as if merely wondering whether it is all true is a betrayal. You were taught that doubt offends God, so now you are fighting two battles at once: the question itself, and the shame of having it. The shame makes it impossible to actually think.

What is true

The Bible distinguishes between honest doubt and a hard, willful unbelief that refuses all evidence. Thomas doubted and was welcomed. A father cried, help my unbelief, and Jesus helped him. The Psalmists questioned constantly. What Scripture warns against is not the sincere seeker's questions but a closed, defiant heart. Yours, clearly, is not closed; you are here, wrestling, wanting the truth. That is not sin. That is the honest heart God meets.
