Roh memberikan karunia, kata Paulus, membagi kepada setiap orang sesuai kehendak-Nya, untuk kebaikan bersama dan pembangunan tubuh. Nubuatan dan pengajaran, melayani dan memberi, belas kasihan dan kepemimpinan, hikmat dan penyembuhan. Setiap halaman di bawah menunjukkan apa itu karunia dan bagaimana ia melayani gereja, dan setiap karunia dibingkai oleh penegasan Paulus sendiri bahwa tanpa kasih, karunia terbesar pun tidak ada artinya.
