Loaves & Fishes
Win only by giving more than you have. The impossible math of generosity. You are a disciple with five loaves and two fish in front of a crowd of real need. It is not enough, and it was never going to be enough. So give it away anyway, because in this Kingdom the basket grows every time it is emptied and shrinks only when it is held.

How to play
- Begin giving. Your basket shows its loaves and fish at the top of the screen.
- Tap a face in the crowd to give to that person. Each face carries a line of real need.
- Every gift multiplies: give a loaf and the basket gains one; give a fish and it gains another. You cannot give the basket empty.
- Hold back too long and the manna spoils: the basket gently shrinks while you hesitate, and the hint tells you why.
- When every face is satisfied, the basket is counted: more than the seven you began with, every time.
- Read the verse, take the reflection to heart, and go and give.
The Scripture it stands on
And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
Matthew 14:19-20, King James Version
What it forms in you
A reflex of generosity. The hands learn what the head resists: that giving does not deplete a life joined to Christ, and that hoarding is the only way to lose.
Who it is for
Quick play for a lunch break, families teaching children why we share, and anyone whose fear of not having enough needs an argument it can feel.
A reflection
Twelve baskets left over. The leftovers were larger than the lunch. What in your hands looks too small to matter, and what would happen if you broke it and gave it anyway?
Questions people ask
How long does a round take?
About two minutes: one crowd, one basket, one truth.
What makes the basket shrink?
Only waiting. Hesitate for a few seconds and the manna spoils a little, the way hoarded manna did in the wilderness. Give, and it grows again.
Is it hard to win?
It is impossible to lose by giving. The only way to fall behind is to hold on.
