A Christian musician can serve Christ and neighbour by leading worship, teaching music, playing where there is none, and bringing comfort to the sick, the grieving, the imprisoned, and the poor. Music opens hearts that arguments cannot, and a willing musician is welcome almost everywhere, from the nursing home to the mission field.
Your skill is needed
Song carries what plain speech cannot. Congregations need worship led with skill and humility; hospitals, hospices, prisons, and shelters are softened by live music; and short-term mission teams often use music to gather a crowd and warm a room. To use your gift for others, and not for applause, is to minister the grace you were given.
Where this skill serves
Because music service is mostly local and team-based, the honest picture is a set of real opportunity-types:
- your local church worship ministry, which almost always needs singers and instrumentalists, and can use skilled musicians to train others.
