Faith at work

Christians in Your Field

You do not have to leave your faith at the office door. Whatever your profession, there are Christians who do your kind of work, ways to serve God through it, and honest questions worth wrestling with. This is a directory of that: real professional fellowships in each field, where the work can serve others, and the ethical questions your industry raises, from a thoughtful Christian view.

All work can be worship

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
Colossians 3:23-24

The Bible draws no line between sacred and secular work. The carpenter, the tax official, the physician, and the tentmaker are all found among God’s people, and Paul tells ordinary workers that they serve the Lord Christ in what they do with their hands and minds. Your job is a place to love your neighbour, do honest and excellent work, and let your light shine.

The hard questions in each industry

Every field has its own moral weight. These pages take the questions seriously rather than pretending they are simple: medicine and Christianity, AI and Christianity, business ethics, law and Christian faith, science and Christian faith, technology and Christian faith.

Where to serve

Your skills are needed. Whatever you can do, there is someone who needs it done in Jesus’ name.

Frequently asked questions

Is there such a thing as a Christian professional network?
Yes. Most major fields have real fellowships, such as Christian Medical & Dental Associations, the Christian Legal Society, Nurses Christian Fellowship, and the American Scientific Affiliation. These pages point to the genuine ones for each profession.
Can my ordinary job really serve God?
Yes. Scripture treats honest work as service to God (Colossians 3:23-24) and a way to love your neighbour and let your light shine (Matthew 5:16). Faithful, excellent, ethical work is itself a form of worship.

Come and see

Before any of this is a career it is a calling, and the One who calls is a Person, not a principle. Whatever your field, the same Christ meets the accountant and the surgeon, the coder and the schoolteacher, and he is gentle with everyone who comes to him honestly. If you have never really met him, you can begin today. It costs you nothing but a little quiet and an open heart.
