A Bible reading plan for
Overcoming Shame
7 days from shame to belovedness
Shame says not just that you did wrong but that you are wrong, unlovable, beyond repair. This seven-day plan answers that lie with the steady voice of God, who covers, cleanses, and lifts the face of the ashamed, and finally with Jesus, who bore our shame so we could be called His own.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”Romans 8:1 (KJV)
The plan, day by day
Day 1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Let this be the ground you stand on.
Day 2
They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. Looking to God lifts the downcast face.
Day 3
For your shame ye shall have double. God does not just remove shame; He replaces it with honor.
Day 4
Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. Jesus meets the exposed and ashamed with mercy, not stones.
Day 5
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions. What He forgives, He does not hold over you.
Day 6
He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love. God does not merely tolerate you; He delights in you.
Day 7
Jesus endured the cross, despising the shame. He carried your shame so you would not have to. Look to Him and be free.
A reading plan is a servant, not a master. If you miss days there is no guilt here and no scorecard in heaven. Simply begin again where you left off. The goal was never to finish a list but to meet the One these words are about, Jesus, who is glad to be found by you today.
Where this plan is leading
Jesus despised the shame of the cross and endured it for you, taking the exposure and disgrace you feared so that you could be clothed in His righteousness. In Christ there is no condemnation. The God who sees everything about you does not look away; He lifts your face and calls you beloved.

What is the difference between guilt and shame in the Bible?
Guilt says I did something bad; shame says I am bad. The Bible takes guilt seriously and answers it with real forgiveness in Christ (1 John 1:9), and it answers shame with belovedness: God lifts the face of the ashamed (Psalm 34:5) and, in Christ, declares no condemnation (Romans 8:1).
Does God remove shame?
Yes. Isaiah 61:7 promises that instead of shame God gives a double honor. Jesus bore our shame on the cross (Hebrews 12:2) so that we could stand unashamed before God. Shame is not the identity God gives His children; He calls them beloved.
How do I stop feeling ashamed of my past?
Bring it honestly to God, receive His full forgiveness in Christ, and then let His word about you be louder than the accusation. Psalm 103 says He removes our sins as far as the east is from the west. Reading passages like these daily helps replace the voice of shame with the voice of your Father.
