Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less, resting so securely in God's love that you no longer need to prove or promote yourself. This seven-day plan follows the downward path of Christ and lets His mind be formed in you.

The plan, day by day
Day 1
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Humility has a face, and it is His.
Day 2
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Which flow of grace do you want to stand in?
Day 3
Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. The way up is down, and He does the lifting.
Day 4
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Humility and wisdom keep company.
Day 5
He that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Greatness in the kingdom is measured by service.
Day 6
Jesus, the Lord, washes His disciples' feet. If He stooped that low, no service is beneath us.
Day 7
What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God. A whole life, summed up.
A reading plan is a servant, not a master. If you miss days there is no guilt here and no scorecard in heaven. Simply begin again where you left off. The goal was never to finish a list but to meet the One these words are about, Jesus, who is glad to be found by you today.
Where this plan is leading
Jesus, being God, emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, and humbled Himself to the death of the cross, and God highly exalted Him. He is both the model and the power of humility. As you behold His self-giving love, pride loosens, and you are freed to take the low place, knowing your Father lifts up the humble.

What does the Bible say about humility?
It says God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud (James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5), that the greatest in the kingdom is the servant (Matthew 23:11), and that we are to walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8). The supreme picture is Jesus, who humbled Himself even to the cross (Philippians 2).
How can I grow in humility?
Humility grows less by trying to feel small and more by beholding God's greatness and Christ's self-giving love until your grip on self loosens. Practically, it means serving quietly, listening more, admitting when you are wrong, giving credit away, and remembering daily how much grace you have received. This plan holds those truths before you.
Isn't humility just low self-esteem?
No. Low self-esteem is still preoccupied with self, just negatively. Biblical humility is freedom from that preoccupation because your worth is settled in God's love. It lets you serve and celebrate others without fear, precisely because you have nothing left to prove.
