A Bible reading plan for
Going Through a Hard Time
7 short days, about 10 minutes a day
When life is heavy, a few days in these passages can steady you. This is a gentle seven-day walk through Scripture written for the hard season you are in: God near the broken, a peace that holds when nothing is fixed, and the promise that this chapter is not the end of your story.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
The plan, day by day
Day 1
God is a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Read it slowly and let the shaking ground be met by an unshakable God.
Day 2
Troubled on every side, yet not distressed. Paul is honest about the weight and honest about the God who carries it.
Day 3
Nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ. Not this hardship, not this fear, not this night.
Day 4
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted. You may be closer to Him now than you know.
Day 5
When you pass through the waters, He is with you. The promise is not that there are no floods, but that you will not go through them alone.
Day 6
Even trials can be worked by God into something that lasts. Ask Him for wisdom, which He gives freely and without reproach.
Day 7
Lift up your eyes. Your help comes from the Lord, who keeps you and does not sleep.
A reading plan is a servant, not a master. If you miss days there is no guilt here and no scorecard in heaven. Simply begin again where you left off. The goal was never to finish a list but to meet the One these words are about, Jesus, who is glad to be found by you today.
Where this plan is leading
Every hard road in Scripture is finally answered by a Man of sorrows who was acquainted with grief, who wept, bled, and rose. Jesus does not stand at a distance from your suffering. He entered it, carried it to a cross, and came out the other side, so that your hardest season is held by One who has been there and will not leave you in it.

What does the Bible say about going through hard times?
Scripture never pretends hard times away. It says God is a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1), that He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and that nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8). Hard times are real, and so is the God who walks through them with you.
How can Bible reading help when life is hard?
Reading a short, chosen passage each day gives your mind something true to stand on when everything feels uncertain. It will not instantly fix your circumstances, but it steadies the heart, and it turns you toward the God who is with you in the middle of it.
What if I am too overwhelmed to read?
Then read one verse. On the hardest days, a single line kept is enough to hold the thread. There is no minimum here and no guilt for a missed day. God is not disappointed in you; He is near to you.
