When You Need Comfort
7 days of tender promises
When your heart is hurting and you just need to be held, this seven-day plan brings the tender promises of the God of all comfort. It is unhurried and gentle, meant to be received more than studied, ending with the day He wipes away every tear for good.

The plan, day by day
Day 1
The Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulation. Comfort is part of who God is.
Day 2
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Even in the valley of the shadow, the Shepherd is beside you.
Day 3
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart. He draws closest to the ones most hurt.
Day 4
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Jesus blesses the grieving and promises them comfort.
Day 5
Let not your heart be troubled. I will not leave you comfortless. He sends His Spirit, the Comforter, to be with you.
Day 6
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He speaks tenderly, and gathers the lambs in His arms.
Day 7
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. This is where every sorrow is finally and fully answered.
A reading plan is a servant, not a master. If you miss days there is no guilt here and no scorecard in heaven. Simply begin again where you left off. The goal was never to finish a list but to meet the One these words are about, Jesus, who is glad to be found by you today.
Where this plan is leading
Jesus is called the man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, and He wept at a friend's grave. He is not a distant comforter but one who has tasted our pain and risen over it. The comfort He gives now is real, and the comfort He promises, a world with no more tears, is certain, because He conquered death itself.

What does the Bible say about comfort?
It calls God the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Scripture promises His nearness to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), the comfort of His Spirit (John 14), and a future with no more tears (Revelation 21:4).
